irishman - Home

Link The national liberation struggle for justice by the Irish people of no property, is part of the struggle against imperialism, as a corrupt system brought to Ireland originally by the British colonialists. Eight centuries of Irish struggle with intense oppression and exploitation of its children, women and men, has created the necessity, inevitability of a revolution, leading all-the-way to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual liberation, as part of a worldwide revolutionary process.

    Silent and Deadly

It's a silent killer, unlike bomb blasts, gunfire, biological terrorism is so subtle that infected people may never know they are victims of a terrorist attack."Bio-terrorism is the most difficult kind of terrorism to detect," said William Clark, a senior advisor on terrorism for the U.S. Deparment of Health and Human Services. "There is no obvious focal point for the incident. You don't know you've been hit until sick people start showing up at the doctors."Clark's comments came at a daylong conference sponsored by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, gave a chilling overview of the challenges posed by bio-terrorism.In bio-terrorism, a political group can use disease - either from bacteria or viruses - as a weapon of war. In the Denver exercise, Clark said, local police who tried to assist victims ended up getting infected themselves and then passing the disease on to others.Several speakers said bio-terrorism forced authorities to change the rules when it came to responding to such threats."It doesn't have to be in a city; it could happen in rural areas too," said Gloria Teeters, a public health nurse from Mendocino County. "I don't think anyone can say it won't happen here."

Bird Flu as a Bioweapon - Head of Interpol

Bird Flu as a Bioweapon - Head of Interpol "Anyone who is honest a has to admit that if al Qaeda launches a spectacular biological attack which could cause contagious disease to be spread, no entity in the world is prepared for it," Noble said. "Not the U.S., not Europe, not Asia, not Africa."
The pandemic flu is the contagious disease of choice, that choice would be the H5N1 causing the high fatality rate of one in two. This version would be more available, since it is excreted in large amounts by birds and ducks. Human-to- human transmission of H5N1 is limited at present, infecting a few international travelers would create worldwide panic.Creating the transmitted H5N1 would be relatively easy. Swapping a human receptor binding domain from a human flu virus into an H5 backbone would create transmission efficiency and such an agent would quickly disseminate worldwide.

    Bio Terrorism is Here

Bioterrorism is extremely difficult because of the dual-use nature and minimal signature of the weapons programs Facilities, equipment and human resources for the production of biological agents are not unique. Weaponization and dissemination, especially for the terrorist, can be done with equipment from industry Precursors are non-specific, rapidly diluted or destroyed in the environment. Maintaining quality expertise in the intelligence community is difficult because of competition from industry for our best young scientists. The openness fostered by information technologies and the spread of biotech throughout the world offer new options for the terrorist.Humans exposed to replicating agents, will not have measurable amounts of the agent in their blood for several days. However, humans may be the only evidence at the site of the aerosol attack.Bioterrorism presents a considerable problem to our society. We are vulnerable and there is no reason to believe that will change. The investigation report that Mohammed Atta, one of the pilots on the suicide mission on September 11 was trying to hire crop dusters only heightened paranoia of an aerosolised form, which is the most effective in a bioterrorist attack. In an exercise, participants agreed that the World Health Organization, should co-ordinate the job, Madeline Albright said that the U.S. president mistrust the United Nations, she agreed to act only reluctantly.Throughout the exercise, the leaders begged others not to take the step of closing borders, which would create panic and destroy the world economy. But within hours, Germany and the Netherlands had done so. "It was a shock how little prepared many countries were," said former Dutch interior minister Klaas de Vries, who played the role of his country's prime minister. "The scenario we posited is very conservative," said Tara O'Toole, a Pittsburgh bioterrorism expert who helped organize the event. "The age of biological weapons is not science fiction; it's here."

    The Poor Guys Atomic Bomb

bio-weapons are the poor guy's atomic bomb.Compared to nuclear weapons, biological warfare "technology is less challenging, more accessible, and no really high-tech equipment is needed," says Gary Milhollin, director of the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control in Washington,The basics of producing pathogens is not rocket science, for anyone who wants to build a small lab in an outpost, that's difficult to detect. Bio-weapons are easy to make. A U.S. study shows that a few biologists, with $10,000 worth of equipment, could produce enough biological weapons to destroy, most fo the Worlds population.America is unprepared for a biological assault according to the respected Journal of the American Medical Association. And Cable News Network terrorism experts say "it's not so much a matter of if or when it will happen, as it is a question of where the attack will take place."In its issue, JAMA reported the results of its survey:• The United States has no realistic contingency plan to handle catastrophic bio-terrorism.• One hospital in four of the nation's 6,000 hospitals is at some state of readiness, according to the American Medical Association.• Most hospitals and other health-care facilities, which are critical to the nation's ability to respond, are "poorly prepared" to care for victims.• They are largely ill-equipped in the areas of decontamination, medical therapy and coordination."We could be dealing with 10 to 100 times what we've planned for," said Dr. Kathy Rinnert.

    Bird Flu Bio-Terrorism

Bird Flu Bio-Terrorism: Bird Flu sprayed in shopping malls, subways, aeroplanes. Plastic aerosols of the patogen sprayed in urban streets, these are the poor man's nuclear bombs of the future, horrendous weapons of mass destruction that can be made in a laboratory.that costs less than $10,000 U.S.The weapons, the objectives to create panic and fear in the civilian population and destroy normal life of the country. A Bird flu bio-terrorist virus, capable of entering the human body multiplying, causing death, produce epidemics using a category of peptide that have a patho-physiological effect. The production of biological weapons is allowed, research and development in biological warfare agents has no mechanism to be monitored. The activities of individuals or industry with dual use unhindered. A verification process, the Bush administration rejected saying that a verification mechanism proposed would be ineffective, has already had a bio-terrorist attack.Compared to other weapons chemical or nuclear, biological weapons are attractive to terrorists for several reasons. Agents of biological warfare are living organisms that reproduce inside the host, they are much more potent. A few grams of a biological agent, can cause damage far in excess of a nuclear weapon. With bio-terrorism, small amounts can be smuggled into countries and are easy to hide. The freeze-dried form can be transported across borders in small amounts by ordinary mail and in the country itself. Seed cultures can be smuggled and laboratories then produce. The production of biological agents involves materials and equipment that are almost entirely dual-use, with applications in pharmaceutical, food and pesticide industries. A laboratory fermentation plant suitable for the production of the biological weapons could be built with about $10,000 U.S. dollars.Except for a small seed stock of the pathogen, no specialised materials are required. Nutrients such as a fermentation medium, glucose, phosphates, peptone and a protein source are widely available and are routinely imported into countries that have fermentation industries. A fountain pen of freeze-dried seed culture, grown in a fermenter in a nutrient medium, kept at a constant temperature, can result in a lethal weapon more destructive than an atomic weapon.Once the biological agent is produced, they are processed into a form that is stable in storage for dispersal. This is the most difficult part for a terrorist organisation but with the H5N1 peptide of bird flu this is not a major difficulty, its neutral nature can exist indefinetly. This is the reason for it to be used for bio-terrorism. Stability is achieved by rapid freezing and subsequent dehydration under high vacuum, a process known as freeze-drying. In a few hours, a device mainly used in the pharmaceutical industry, reduces a solution of virus and a protein stabiliser to a dried material that is ground to powder form. The simplest methods to achieve attack over a widespread area is to turn the freeze-dried powder into a biological aerosol, a stable cloud of suspended microscopic droplets, each containing millions of virus particles. The droplets remain suspended in the air and can be carried in the wind over large distances. Biological aerosols are produced with a simple piece of machinery that sprays the virus through nozzles. Aerosol sprays and the subsequent respiratory infection increase the effectiveness of the pathogens. Aerosols of bird flu would probably be the method of terrorist attacks. Aerosol dispersal, also allows for control of particle size and density to maximise effect on the targeted population. A widely held view among experts, is that all steps are accessible to a terrorist organisation. The virulence and the exponential growth of the virus in the host can be produced in a matter of days. The incubation period of a biological weapon is an advantage for terrorists, to be on a plane and away after committing the act. The disease could not be distinguished from a natural outbreak for quite some time. Much of the information is available in open literature. Terrorist biological weapon production can be carried on under legitimate biotechnology industry.Much of the information is available in open literature.Terrorist biological weapon production can be carried out under legitimate biotechnology industries.Working with pathogens is extremely hazardous, however, a facility meant for terrorist use is unikely to be concerned with such measures. Those handling the pathogens would be protected by no more than protective clothing and masks.
